She Will Rock You
She Will Rock You is hosted by two millennial women on a mission- to educate others about the history of rock and roll, and to help the public realize that rock is not dead, you just have to know where to look.
The show is two-fold. Bi-weekly, we each choose an artist, and tell the other about that band’s history. The bite-sized, Taco Bell drive-thru version of their history. We aren’t here to be the ultimate rock and roll encyclopedia, but to give you a deeper appreciation for an artist and where they come from. Trust us when we say, these stories are wild. We also sprinkle in some interviews with artists you need to know and ask them the real questions- questions about inspiration, muses and what kind of cereal they would be.
Bethanne Tarpley is a former emo/scene connoisseur hailing from New York. Growing up right between New York City and Bethel Woods, home of the original Woodstock Music Festival, she had the opportunity to be part of both the emerging hardcore scene as well as build an appreciation for 60’s and 70’s rock pioneers such as Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Elton John, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Jimi Hendrix, etc.
Bethanne handles all audio production and design for the podcast. She also is a musician/songwriter herself and draws inspiration from an eclectic group of rock heroes. In her spare time, you can find her visiting local breweries with her husband, Josh, and friends (pre-covid), taking unnecessary photos of her dogs, Mia and Rhodey for instagram, and crocheting mismatched blankets while watching Ru Paul’s Drag Race.
Leah Jones lived her first life as a theatre kid growing up in Lynchburg, Virginia and was raised by two children of the 80s. Because of this, she loves everything glitter, spandex and hairspray. This means her influences hail from the 70s and 80s and include Slade, Queen, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, David Bowie and the like. She probably mentions The Struts on the podcast to the point of annoyance, but it’s fine.
Leah handles all front-end relations and social media for the podcast, and is probably the one you hear from if you email us. When she’s not podcasting, she can be found either on her Peloton or snuggling on the couch with an assortment of her 5 pets and possibly her husband, Zach.
